An Incan Trapezoidal Tunic and Hat
c. 1100-1400 AD

From the Arica region, north coast of Chile. Woven camelid fibers in multicolored stripes. Trapezoidal tunics are known only from North Chile and demonstrate a weaving skill unknown in other Andean cultures, that of a shaped garment. The complete outfit comes with a Faja bolsa (bag belt) which ties at the waist along with a coca bag and knitted conical hat. In good condition, professionally lined and stabilized. Fitted onto a padded metal armature.
