A Pachacamac Painted Textile Fragment
Peru, c. 1100 - 1460 AD

Eighteen figures, one of whom is depicted in profile, painted with red, brown and blue pigments with white (natural wool) details, on a painted orange ground. Each wearing a crescent-shaped headdress, each with three fingers and toes, scattered diamonds, some circles, and a single animal. In good condition, a repaired hole lower left. Mounted to linen and enclosed in a Plexiglas box.
