A Kayapo Feather Headdress
Mato Grosso, Brazil

A semicircular headdress of domestic bird feathers (parrot and macaw) strung on cotton which is tied in a pattern onto a bundle of thin rattan strips. An aged brown tag still attached reading "Cocar / Tribo Caiapo / Mato Groso, BR". Mounted, framed and glazed. All in excellent condition.

Height of headdress: 20 inches; dimensions of frame: 29 x 25 ¼ inches
