A Chimu Painted Panel
Peru, circa 1100-1400 AD

Gauze panel of white camelid fibers with natural earth pigments in black and orange. Depicts an abstract rectilinear human head with a quizzical expression, flanked by bird and insect heads. Probably a fragment from a larger panel. In very good condition, framed.
