Two Mezcala Stone Figures
Guerrero, Mexico, c. 500-200 BC

One a pot bellied or pregnant figure with Olmecoid facial features carved from a dense speckled green stone. Biconical drill holes piercing through back of head for suspension, supplemental drilled areas front and back of arms. The other a highly stylized linear figure cut and carved from a hard gray stone. the first in excellent condition; the second with an area of erosion to the stone on the front of the proper left leg.

Heights: 5 and 6 inches
