An Aztec Stone Block with Carved Sides
Central Mexico, c. 1300 - 1521 AD

Volcanic stone carved in relief with two images of the feathered serpent god Quetzalcoatl. The lengthwise panel with the tail, the end panel with the serpent head showing mouth open with bifurcated tongue out. Remains of red pigment on side panel. In very good condition, a fragment.
