A Maori Figural Pendant, hei tiki
New Zealand, 19th century

The tiki with head tilted toward the right shoulder. Eyes inlaid with red sealing wax obtained from trade with European vessels. Carved green jade (nephrite). Drilled at top for suspension.

More Information: In overall excellent condition. No breaks, cracks or chips. Surface with wear commensurate with age, including wear around the drill hole. No apparent restoration.
