A Group of Inca Figures and Animals
Peru, c. 1400-1500 AD

This group of small standing human figures, llamas, and birds, most fashioned from spondylus shell - one is metal - was probably part of an offering. The figures may have been dressed in garments which have disintegrated. The Inca made a lot of small figures and animals that were placed as offerings at sacred sites. Most in very good condition; one human missing its proper right leg, one with facial features blurred.
