A Costa Rica Jade Avian Celt Pendant
Nicoya-Guanacaste, Costa Rica, c. 100 - 500 AD

Carved from mottled blue-green jade with a high polish, this pendant takes the form of a bird with concentric-ring eyes, triangular beak, and short folded wings, crowned by a harpy-eagle headdress. Rare large examples like this one were reserved for high-ranking leaders as markers of lineage and divine sanction. In excellent condition. With a stand.
