A Superb Calima Gold Nose Ornament
Colombia, Early Yotoco Period, circa 100 BC - 500 AD

Sheet gold alloy cut in a kidney shape with spear shapes for insertion into the nose septum. An early example of fine Calima gold work, the gold sheet of an even thickness and finished with a high, satiny polish that has lasted centuries. In excellent condition, as found, with patina intact. With an acrylic and metal stand.
