Two Large Chancay Figural Vessels
Peru, c. 1100-1400 AD

Hollow earthenware painted with brown and black pigments. Both egg-shaped bodies with hands holding a drinking vessel (kero) modeled in high relief at front, softly modeled legs and feet below. The necks of each vessel modeled as a head wearing a round hat or crown, with painted facial features. Both in very good, intact condition, some large and small scratches and scuffs to the painted surfaces.

Height: 16 and 17 ½ inches

More Information: Blacklight indicates these are in intact condition, no repairs or restorations, scuffed areas show clay body beneath the paints.
