Description
An Olmec Seated FigureMesoamerica, Early Pre-Classic Period, c. 1200-900 BC
Solid buffware with burnished cream slip, remains of red cinnabar in the recessed areas. The figure has a fleshy torso and wears short pants, seated cross-legged with proper left hand held to shin, and right arm held down with hand touching the ground. The head is turned slightly to its left. In very good, intact condition, scattered black manganese deposits all over, minor stains and discolorations here and there.
Note: this figure is a mirror image of lot 70333 in this sale.
