Description
A Rare and Large Chimu Double Chamber Vessel with CaninePeru, Late Intermediate Period - Late Horizon, circa 1100-1500 AD
Burnished blackware with a bridge handle. Finely crafted large vessel with the two chambers adjoined at center where the fluid inside could be interchanged, creating a whistling sound. The main event is the dog -- delicately modeled with incised facial features and collar -- seated on the smaller, globular chamber. This is a masterpiece of Chimu artistry in ceramics.
