    A Quimbaya Maternity Figure
    Colombia, c. 500 - 1000 AD

    Creamware with traces of black pigments on face. Seated female with legs outstretched to front, holding a suckling infant to her proper left breast. Indented bands with incised triangles and dots on arms and legs. Typical rectangular head with slit eyes and mouth and large nose with gold wire ring. In good condition, assembled from large parts, visible repairs and restorations especially on the front and around neck.
