A Maya Polychrome Cylinder Vase
Mesoamerica, Late Classic, c. 600-900 AD

An unusual scene depicting three standing warriors, each with very different armor and weapons, two of them raising an arm with amputated hand, both with a large shield-like standard or banner before them. The third is painted blue and holds a long spear before him. In very good condition, vertical repair and restoration behind the warrior painted with stripes.
