DescriptionA Maya Figural Censer
c. 600-800 AD
Earthenware with a red-brown slip on parts. The bowl raised on a flat peg at back and the two legs of the figure at front. The mold-made face that of the Post-Classic Old Man/Fire God wearing large ear flares, hair tied up in topknot and two braids each side. Arms bent at elbows and hands held with palms facing down. Band around the waist with etched geometric designs. In good condition, visible repairs, especially at the front.
