A Large Maya Polychrome Cylinder Vase
Mesoamerica, Late Classic, c. 700-900 AD

Orangeware painted with dark orange and brown. Three panels with a standing figure leaning forward, his left hand tentatively reaching for or touching a large feathered construction, a similar construction is to his back. His other arm held out to his back. His limbs are painted black, his face orange. A band of pseudoglyphs near rim. In very good condition, no apparent repairs or restorations, although under blacklight there are numerous drip lines of a transparent foreign substance down the exterior and pooled at the bottom.
