A Large Colima Standing Female Figure...
Description
A Large Colima Standing Female FigureWest Mexico, c. 250 BC-250 AD
Standing nude aside from a wrapped skirt, this figure is notable for the neatly ordered rows of nodules or cicatrices on the upper arms. The head is finely modeled, with slit eyes and mouth, a distinct headband, and a plaited coiffure. The strong frontality and restrained detailing give the figure a quiet authority. A handsome and well-preserved example of Colima figural sculpture. In very good, intact condition; no apparent repairs or restorations.
Height: 19 ¾ inches
Estimate: $2,500 - $3,500.
