A Colima Seated Figure
West Mexico, c. 250 BC - 250 AD

Seated with hands resting on short legs. Incised banded and ribbed garment around his waist, large pointed ovals around neck, representing large shell ornaments representative of a chief, warrior, or shaman. His attitude and facial features exude an attitude of great confidence. An etched chin strap and head band secure a conical horn on top of his forehead. Spout at back of head. Hollow earthenware with burnished dark brown slip. In very good condition, only one repair and restoration to his proper right wrist and jointure of hand to knee.
