A Colima Female Figure
West Mexico, c. 250 BC - 250 AD

Hollow earthenware with dark red-brown slip and attractive black manganese deposits. She is seated with legs straight out, right hand to her cheek, left to her right breast, the eyes carved out giving it a very life-like gaze. Etched lines delineate the wrap-around skirt, a headband and tresses coming to a point down the back of the neck. In excellent condition, no apparent repairs or restorations.
