Description
A Colima Battle SceneWest Mexico, c. 250 BC - 250 AD
Hollow earthenware with burnished red-brown slip with black paint on the torsos and legs, and extensive black manganese deposits. The dominant standing figure wields a pointed weapon in his proper right hand, and has his left foot on the thigh of the seated figure. Both wear caps with a single horn protruding from the front, the standing figure wears a triangular back rack scored along the perimeter to indicate feathers, and he sports a flaring crest also scored around the perimeter. The large spout of the vessel emanates from the back of the subordinate figure. Appears to be in very good, intact condition.

More Information: In overall very good to excellent condition. No apparent breaks, cracks, or chips. Surface is excellent condition. No apparent restoration.
