DescriptionA Siguas Long Band or Sash
Peru, c. 500 BC – 100 AD
A magnificent and mostly intact long, wide sash or band, interlocking tapestry weave, long and short joined panels, the two end panels in a slightly thicker weave each ending with long fringe. Intriguing imagery with zigzag step designs enclosing multicolored squares and Inca cross, human figures, and animals with long tails. In good condition, small areas with color loss. Mounted to linen and enclosed in a Plexiglas box.
