DescriptionA Nazca Tie Dyed Mantle
Peru, c. 200 – 500 AD
Sixteen joined panels of woven camelid fibers carefully tie dyed in variegated reds, greens, and one panel in dark brown. Each of the red and green panels has four roughly parallel rows of rectangles enclosing a red or green dot; in the dark brown panel the rectangles have an extra row and alternate white and red with a red dot. In good condition, appropriate for its age, origin, and mediums. Mounted to linen and enclosed in a Plexiglas box.
