A Large Calima Gold Pectoral
Colombia, c. 200-600 AD

High karat gold circular pectoral or breastplate representing the sun. Ornamented with a ridge with tightly spaced small bumps in a circle, and the far edge also with tiny raised bumps spaced further apart. Pierced twice for suspension. In good condition, appropriate for its age and material; minor creases near perimeter small hairline cracks near perforations. A magnificent and large example.

Purchased by the current owner's brother from a Massachusetts estate sale in the 1970s.
