Jesús Bautista Moroles, a native Texan stone sculptor, received his BFA from the University of North Texas and apprenticed under Luis Jimenez. Moroles's monumental sculpture has been exhibited in installations throughout the US: he was commissioned to do 45 pieces throughout the Birmingham Botanical Gardens, he installed a 22 foot sculpture in the New York CBS Plaza, and he created the Sculpture Plaza entrance to the Edwin A. Ulrich Museum in Wichita, Kansas. He has also exhibited in the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington DC, The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Santa Fe, as well as many regional Texas museums and galleries. Moroles is the recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts.

    Condition Report*:

There is light rubbing and a few surface scratches to the work. The red columns are actually painted Styrofoam and have some rubbed areas of minor loss to the edges. The top granite comb portion of the work has one element (second from right) where the cut grid texture is compromised; same--but in lesser fashion--for the first and third elements from the left, but I believe to be part of the artist's working methods and not to be a condition issue. Otherwise, overall in good condition.
