Panic, Psycho, Gone (1982) characterizes Richard Prince's iconographic style of assembling familiar images from our society's subculture. Through a carefully crafted story, Prince assigns the banal and often overlooked advertisements a new meaning. He presents society's obsession with commercial objects such as cars and offers a glimpse of what happens once we concede to the strategies of marketing. His images of the words "panic, psycho and gone" refer to the public fervor brought on by consumer and market trends.
