Description

    Mike Salcido
Something is ending & something begins
    Acrylic on canvas
    36 x 36 inches (91.4 x 91.4 cm)

From an early age Mike Salcido showed an interest in and a talent for a variety of art forms, including drawing, painting, music, and acting. He has traveled the world extensively, but his visits to Mexico City have been particularly meaningful, because there he was able to experience firsthand the strange power of the life and work of one of his major inspirations, Frida Kahlo. Other influences include Canadians Diane Desmarais and Dominic Besner and American Mark Whitmarsh. He creates beautiful images of a world full of color and constantly in motion. Mike's goal is to trigger in the viewer a unique emotion that simultaneously snaps him out of his ordinary life and puts him into contact with the reciprocal energy of the world. mikesalcido.com

    About Dallas Challenge
Dallas Challenge is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health, education and welfare of youth from the greater Dallas area. For almost 30 years, they have been a leading provider of programs and services that have successfully steered over 160,000 children, teens and young adults away from destructive behaviors such as truancy, substance abuse, school failure and juvenile delinquency that were negatively impacting their lives.

Dallas Challenge prides itself on dealing directly with the crucial issues that youth are faced with today. The teenage years can be the most difficult and stressful period of one's life because the transition between childhood and adulthood is often accompanied by fear, alienation and self-doubt. While some young people get through this life stage successfully, increasing numbers are caught in a downward spiral of issues like substance abuse and truancy which can negatively affect their education, health and welfare. We understand the severity of problems faced by today's youth; therefore, we are dedicated to our vision to turn around the lives of every child from the Dallas community that needs our help to get back on the right path. EVERY CHILD DESERVES A HELPING HAND!
