Woman in White Stepping Out is a stunning work that showcases a classic period beauty. It features a pose nearly identical to the published Gil Elvgren Brown & Bigelow calendar Stepping Out featuring model Myrna Hansen and appears to also show the Miss USA. The work comes directly from the collection of Louis K. Meisel, co-author of Gil Elvgren: All His Glamorous American Pin-Ups (Taschen, 1999) and an undisputed expert in the artist. It is thought by Meisel and others that this was most likely created as advertising rather than calendar art, though it seems to never have been published.
