    Description

    Ron Galella (American, b. 1931)
    Windblown Jackie, 1971
    Gelatin silver, printed later
    40 x 25 inches (101.6 x 63.5 cm)
Signed and annotated 'Artist's Proof' in pencil and with the photographer's stamps on verso.

The caption affixed to the verso of the print reads October 7, 1971: New York City. WINDBLOWN JACKIE - I took this picture from a taxi's rear window on Madison Ave. I believe the taxi driver blew his horn to get her attention. When I got out of the taxi, Jackie put on her sunglasses and said, "are you pleeeased with yourself?" I replied "yes, thank you." and left.

Da Vinci had his MONA LISA, and I had WINDBLOWN JACKIE, my favorite, most published, and most famous picture. Jackie gave a MONA LISA smile.
