Elizabeth Winifred "Jane" Martin (1902-1976) married Sir Kenneth MacKenzie Clark [Baron Clark of Saltwood], the well-known art-historian in 1927. They had met in 1925 while both were students at Oxford. She was known for her lavish entertaining and was president of the Incorporated Society of London Fashion Designers. Their social circle included most of the well-known artists, writers and politicians of the day. In later life she suffered from alcoholism and, though looked after by Clark, she died at the age of 74.
