    From 1896 to 1930, Edward Curtis photographed nearly every Native American tribe west of the Mississippi. He shot over 40,000 negatives of eighty tribes. For thirty years, Curtis dedicated himself to photographing and documenting the lives and traditions of the Native people of North America. Curtis' photographs have had a profound impact on the way Americans view Native life and culture. The prints note at the lower left: Photogravure Suffolk Eng. Co. Cambridge, Mass.
