    The Viscount Melbourne was wrecked in 1842 in the China Seas. Huggins was a marine court painter to King William IV.

    Condition Report*: Lined canvas. Square patch to center, verso. Pronounced craquelure throughout, some with visible retouching. Some slightly larger hairline cracks and scattered areas of pigment separation. A very few pinpoint accretions. Very slight frame abrasion to extreme. Not examined out of frame.
    Under UV: varnish remnants fluoresce green unevenly. Aforementioned retouching to craquelure, visible throughout. A very few brushy reinforcements to the clouds.
