William Slaughter was ordained a Lutheran minister after World War
II. He was pastor in Lubbock, Mexico, and finally Dallas. While in
Dallas he took up painting as a hobby, but success in painting
changed his calling. In 1968, he won a first prize in landscape
painting and he won a first prize in still life painting in
Under UV exam, there does not appear to be inpaint. Extremely fine craquelure on the left side, on top of the tree. 1/2 spotted line of surface soiling in the upper center quadrant.
