The present work is published as the cover of Reefer Girl by Jane Manning (Cameo Books #330, 1953).

Rudy Nappi's cover for Jane Manning's 1953 novel Reefer Girl is perhaps the most iconic image from the juvenile delinquent / drug culture pulp fiction genre. A red neon arrow pointing to the unseen street below suggests that the beautiful woman pictured in her shabby apartment is on her way down, while the glowing light that directs the eye towards her invites the viewer to accompany her there.
