Perhaps one of the finest Armstrong pastels ever offered, Venus is one of the three nudes that Armstrong created in the mid-thirties. Collectors take note, this breathtaking masterwork is one of only a handful of nudes ever done by this classic American illustrator.
This painting was reproduced as a full-page image on page 2 of The Great American Pin-Up by Charles G. Martignette and Louis K. Meisel, Taschen, 1996, and it was also reproduced on page 121 of Pin-Up Dreams: The Glamour Art of Rolf Armstrong by Janet Dobson and Michael Wooldridge, Watson-Guptill, 2001.

Line visible 3.5" from bottom edge; otherwise lot is in good condition good with only normal wear commensurate with age. Framed to an overall size of 45 x 34 in.
