    End of the Day, 1970
    Oil on masonite
    20in. x 30in.
    Signed and dated lower right

A contemporary Texas artist, Robert Summers is known for his representational sculptures and paintings of genre and landscape scenes. He has been commissioned for many public art projects, including the world's largest bronze sculpture group for Pioneer Plaza at the Dallas Convention Center, which depicts a historic cattle drive with forty longhorns and three cowboys on horseback. In 1976, he was named official Texas Bicentennial Artist. Depicting a couple of cowboys in a vast Texas canyon, End of the Day is a superb example of Summers' realistic painting style.

Provenance: Mr. and Mrs. Mike Smith, Houston, TX
    David Dike, Dallas, TX
acquired from the above by the present owner
