PROVENANCE:
Private collection, New Jersey.
The present painting is accompanied by a photo-certificate (no. P91-173) dated February 19, 1991 from Fanny Guillon-Laffaille. The work will be reproduced in the second supplement to the Catalogue raisonné de l'oeuvre peint de Raoul Dufy currently in preparation by Fanny Guillon-Laffaille.

Condition Report*:
Original unlined canvas. Unframed. Painting has a hole at far upper center which goes into the stretcher bar. It has the appearance of having been a framing accident (a screw hole). This lot is offered unframed.
Under UV examination, there are two passages which fluoresce: a line running just below the image proper for about 12 inches from the middle of the composition to the end (to the naked eye that area is white); and a patch on the far left side, also in the white spot directly to left of the vegetation. In both cases the fluorescence coincides with areas of white.
