Born in Texas, Porfirio Salinas lived in San Antonio. Jose Arpa and Robert Wood took him on painting field trips into the Hill Country. His subjects include structures and genre paintings such as bullfighters, but he is best known for landscapes, especially of Central Texas. Salinas gained national recognition when President Lyndon B. Johnson, who had been collecting his paintings since the 1940s, named him his favorite artist.

Condition Report*: Stretcher crease visible along top edge; otherwise lot is in good condition with only normal wear commensurate with age. Framed to an overall size of 24.25 x 29.25 in.
