    Oil on canvas
    4 x 6 inches (10.2 x 15.2 cm)


    PROVENANCE:
    Jean Renoir, son of the artist, Los Angeles;
    Robert Florey, Hollywood film director and friend of Jean Renoir, Los Angeles, gift from the above;
    By descent to the present owner, San Pedro, California.

    NOTE:
    This work will be included in the Catalogue Critique Pierre-Auguste Renoir being prepared by the Wildenstein Institute from the François Daulte, Durand-Ruel, Venturi, Vollard and Wildenstein archives. The lot is accompanied by the following: an inclusion certificate from the Wildenstein Institute, dated January 31, 2013; copies of letters between Jean Renoir and Robert Florey; and a copy of a photograph of Robert and Virginia Florey at their home in Brentwood with Jean Renoir and friends.

    Condition Report*: Original canvas with slight surface grime (canvas appears never to have been cleaned); under UV examination, certain areas fluoresce (for example, the top green horizontal band bordering the central foliage and tiny dots in the foliage), but this is likely due to the original pigmentation and not to any restoration.   Framed Dimensions 5.75 X 7.75 Inches
