    PAUL HERMANN WAGNER (German, 1852-1937)
    Forest Nymph
    Oil on canvas
    34 x 43-1/2 inches (86.4 x 110.5 cm)
Signed lower left: Paul Wagner / München

    Private Collection, Texas.

Condition Report*: Recent conservation by Las Negras Studio, Dallas: The surface was cleaned and the varnish removed with a chemical solvent. The full canvas was relaxed with humidity under vacuum pressure to remove canvas deformations in the areas of the two tears (a 6 x 10" T-shaped tear in the background above the figure's hip and a 1 x 1" L-shaped tear above the figure's head) to minimize stretcher marks. The tears were set with Lascaux textile welding powder and local heat. The full canvas was lined on a heated vacuum table with Beva-371b, with Mylar and monofilament interleafs with a natural linen backing. After the lining process the canvas was re-stretched to the original stretcher. The losses were filled then inpainted with Maimeri restoration colors and several coats of Soluvar varnish were brushed with a final coat sprayed to achieve a semi-gloss sheen.
