Condition Report*: Unlined canvas. Stretcher bar marks faintly visible near edges and vertically at center under raking light, particularly in upper half of work. Minor abrasions along lower edge. A group of vertical lines of abrasions, along with instances of drippy varnish, to sky in upper left quadrant. A vertical line of abrasion, approximately 5-inches inward from right edge in lower half of work. Some losses associated with this area, some with retouching visible upon very close inspection. A small hole in sky near left edge in lower left corner. Scattered abrasions and dots of discolored accretion and what appears to be errant paint. A few scattered pinpoint losses visible upon close inspection. Faint craquelure affecting dark green pigments in left side of work and the white pigment of the corner of the banner just over the central figure's proper right shoulder. An area of texture variation affecting the wedge shaped device (possibly a type of quadrant) in lower right corner. Scattered inclusions in the paint layer, original to production. Colors remain fresh and bright. This lot is offered unframed.
