    The most renowned and beloved artist-illustrator of the American 20th-century, Norman Rockwell enjoyed a long and successful career. He was an unapologetic exponent of countrified realism, creating endearing genre images that have become celebrated icons of America. Rockwell provided illustrations for a number of publications, such as the Saturday Evening Post, for which he produced over 320 covers. The present drawing was used as an advertisement illustration for Schenley's Cream of Kentucky (bourbon whiskey) in Collier's in 1938.
