The present work is a preliminary sketch for the Winter image in one of Rockwell's wildly popular "Four Seasons" calendar series, Brown & Bigelow, 1951.

Condition Report*:
Vestige of old adhesive along all four sheet edges; several spots of faint, minor craquelure in negative space; surface abrasion near lower center right sheet edge; lightly creased lower right corner; slightly irregular left sheet edge; under UV exam, there appears to be a quarter-size spot of inpainting near the lower center right sheet edge, as well as two approx. 2-inches long spots in the negative space on either side of tallest boy's (bandaged) right leg.
Overall board dimensions: 12-1/4 x 9-1/2 inches (31.1 x 24.1 cm)
