THE JEAN AND GRAHAM DEVOE WILLIFORD CHARITABLE TRUST

    EXHIBITED:
Federal Reserve Board, Washington, D.C., "Highlights and Footnotes of American Art from the Collection of Graham Williford," January 22-March 15, 1991, no. 35.

Native New Yorker Louis Moeller became one of America's foremost anecdotal genre painters during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Following his studies in Munich with Duveneck, Lofftz and Dietz, Moeller took as his painterly focus the subject of distinguished elderly men enjoying each other's company over drinks, cards and conversation. Graham Williford acquired this painting because he thought it resembled him.
