    By descent to the artist's grand-daughter, Eleanor Gould Onderdonk Limpert.

    The Picket Fence is a view out of the Onderdonk home at 128 French Place looking across the street to the Chandler home. Julian included the Chandler house in a number of paintings hid did shortly after returning to Texas.

    The Picket Fence by Julian Onderdonk comes from the collection of Julian's grand-daughter, Eleanor Gould Onderdonk Limpert, which includes paintings, plein-air oil sketches, pencil sketches, drawings, and diagrams, giving fascinating insights into Julian's artistic process, many revealing the staggering amounts of planning, preparation, and skill needed to create his major landscape paintings. That they can all stand alone as compelling artworks is another testament to his talent.

    Condition Report*: Overall surface grime; scattered flecks of surface accretions, particularly in bottom half of composition; frame wear with associated small flecks of paint loss along the top and left extreme edges; bumped corners; small dot of paint loss in road; there does not appear to be inpainting under UV exam; not framed.
