Condition Report*: Lined canvas. Stretcher bar marks visible near edge and vertically at center under raking light. Extremely slight yellowing to the varnish layer. Faint, finely patterned craquelure, apparently stabilized beneath the varnish layer. A few small instances of visible retouching to address small losses, particularly near edges and in upper left and right corners. A few scattered small dots of whiteish accretion, with a more prominent vertical line of whiteish accretion at left edge in the lower left quadrant. Some areas of thinness to the paint layer. Minor surface dirt and dust. Not examined out of frame due to size.
Under UV: heavily applied varnish fluoresces green unevenly. Aforementioned instances of retouching fluoresce. An area of brushy retouching in lower left corner, possibly addressing a repair. White highlights of the bonfire have been strengthened.
Framed Dimensions 44.5 X 64 X 6.5 Inches
