Signed, dated, and inscribed lower left: J.G. Steffan 1872 / München
Condition Report*:
Lined canvas. Minor frame abrasion at edges. Slight yellowing to the varnish layer. Three small circular areas of lifting in the lower right quadrant. Very faint, finely patterned craquelure, most apparent in the sky at upper left. Very minor surface dust.
Under UV: varnish fluoresces green unevenly. Brushy retouching at edges. Scattered retouching throughout, most notably in the middle ground at center, affecting some of the cows.
