These illustrations were published as the headpiece and tailpiece for the forward in Sir Lancelot and his Companions by Howard Pyle, Scribner's, 1907. At top of board in pencil written by Pyle are instructions to publisher: "Headpiece and Tailpiece for 'Forward' Note=Use lettering from 'The Book of King Arthur'."

A copy of the 1933 Brandywine edition reprint of first edition of the book accompanies this lot.
