Hopi Polychrome Pottery Bowl
Circa 1920
Height 4 in. Diameter 9 1/2 in.

This bowl is characterized by its rounded base, everted rim, and a pierced suspension knob. The interior is painted with highly stylized bird motifs including curving beaks and red and black feathers, solid and hatched, against the cream slip. A thick black band frames the design just below the rim. The exterior is further decorated with bird designs.
