Gerald Williamson "Jerry" Bywaters, born in 1906, stands as an influential figure in Texas's rich artistic tapestry and a member of the Dallas Nine. As an artist, teacher, critic, and director of the Dallas Museum of Fine Arts, he effectively wore many hats, imparting a strong influence on the region's cultural discourse including traveling world to bring the world to Texas. Condition Report*: Unlined canvas. Under UV exam, there does not appear to be inpaint. Moderate craquelure throughout, with accompanying scattered flecks of loss, most notable along the lower edge, extending into the date and figures at far left. Canvas is slack. Small 1/4 inch area of frame abrasion along the left edge.
